Sriram Thinking Aloud - Guidelines

After a long thought-out set of alternatives, I have decided to write on a subject that interests me immensely – the books that I read/have already read.

I am an avid reader, but I don’t stray much away from the beaten track of mainstream bestsellers. I have different lessons to take from the various books that I read, and I felt that a good starting point to my blog would be to share these lessons, opinions, criticism, and other thoughts aligned around these books.

I intend to adhere to the following structure in all my books-blog :

  • Title of the blog will be the title of the book
  • Blog shall begin with a brief introduction about the book and its contents
  • The main body of the blog is the place where I will share my thoughts, opinions and criticism (if any !) about the book.
  • Concluding remarks, if any, will follow the main body

I personally believe in the inviolable need to maintain the dignity of the individual in any social interaction. I personally believe that this dignity should never be compromised under any circumstance. I intend to exercise this belief even in my blogs, and will hence ensure that there are no stereotypical descriptions or prejudiced views of any nature in the opinions that I share through my blog. In case there indeed happen to be any specific negative references to any individual, they shall be more on account of a personal, contextual reference, than any generalization applied to any individual or groups of individuals. I share these opinions NOT with intent to make the readers fall within my line of thought. On the contrary, I believe that every one is entitled to an opinion, and if it differs from mine, well, I believe all of us must agree to disagree !

I spell this out in anticipation of the possibility that when I write about topics such as religious fundamentalism, there is every possibility that I may sound very bigoted, and that certain groups of people may feel hurt. But the fact remains that religious generalizations are highly impossible, and even if they are possible, there are ALWAYS exceptions! I feel the greater intent here is to have a healthy exchange of the perspectives of life by sharing these opinions…!!!

In closing, I feel it is worthwile to add that apart from books, I also intend to share my thoughts and opinions on other topics which I feel intensely about, or something which has touched a deep chord within me !!
