I have heard a lot about the so called 'blogoshpere', but never really came to being a part of it, leave alone posting something onto it. But if I have decided to create one now, it is thanks to two people - both of whom, much to my surprise and bewilderment, were very keen to read what I had to share !
The first one is Jo, my colleague from NMSWorks Software. I just stumbled on her blog when I was once chatting with her on Google - she had expressed her thoughts on quite a number of subjects, and her blog was quite interesting to read. Although I had created my own blog spot by that time, I had not really contributed anything to it. It was Jo who urged me to think of actively contributing on a regular basis. What it is that I can contribute, she could not suggest, but all she said was, I SHOULD write, and I SHOULD share a link ! Now that was a surprising request - here was a person keen to read something I am yet to write, not yet even aware of what it is going to be about in the first place ! Reason 1 for my surprise and bewilderment...!!
The second one is Ammu, who few people in my circle would know. To make a long story short, Ammu is a budding computer engineer, all set to break-out of professional education and plunge headlong into a professional career. We share a truly unique relationship - she is too old to be my daughter, and till I met her, I thought I had to wait 18 years to see my daughter as a college girl. But when I met her, I saw her as just another Vaishnavi, and realized that if you are lucky, you need not wait 18 years to understand what it will be to have a college girl as a daughter ! To me, Ammu is another daughter - just that I met her less than a year back, yet she is someone who has managed to evoke in me the same affection that a daughter evokes.
Writing has always been my passion - just that I realized it a couple of years back, when it dawned on me that I express myself better when I write. I have come across comments from people who say that when they read a message from me, it feels like as if I am sitting right in front of them and reading it out to them ! I am glad that I was able to use words to such good effect !

What do I eventually expect in return for posting my thoughts on a blog ? Actually, nothing ! Sometimes, I feel that I should have chosen to be a writer, instead of a customer-facing career involving projects, invoices, payments and review meetings. But almost 15 years into my career, I don’t think there is any ‘going-back’ option – there is only the Hobson’s choice of going forward. But even as I go forward with my customer facing career, I felt I can still indulge in what I now realize to be my true calling – writing. Perhaps one thing may lead to another, and I may find myself elsewhere…
And yes, there are these two ladies who eagerly await the thoughts that I have to share – the greater responsibility for me now is to not let them down!
With the urging of two eager ladies, I decided to think of what I can contribute – my next post would describe what I would post, and describe any self-imposed ground rules that I wish to adopt in all my posts.
Cheers !
